What you are buying, what it costs, and how to get your money back.

Last updated 26 September 2026.

The two things you can buy

The app itself is free. Two separate purchases unlock the assistant, and you may hold both:

A BYOK licence — one year
You bring your own API key (Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, or a model running on your own machine through Ollama) and the assistant runs on it. Your provider bills you directly for what you use; we never see that traffic and never see the key, which stays encrypted on your computer. The licence covers up to three machines.
Credit packs
We hold the keys and run the models for you. A pack fills one of two balances — an agent pool for the assistant, and a LaTeX pool for handwriting recognition and the LaTeX editor's helpers. They are separate so that a long computation cannot quietly spend the credits you bought to transcribe your notes.

What a credit is

One credit is one US cent of the model provider's own list price. A request that costs us $0.014 of Google's published rate spends 1.4 credits — measured from the token counts the provider reports for that request, at the rate shown beside each model in the app before you choose it. Bigger models and longer answers cost more, and the app shows a running estimate as you work.

Your balance and every debit that made it are on your account page: the date, the model, the tokens and the credits, one line per request. That ledger is the record. The figure the app shows while you work is an estimate of the same thing and can differ slightly from it.

Credits expire after 12 months

Credits expire twelve months after your most recent purchase into that pool. Buying again moves the date forward for the whole balance in that pool, so a pack bought today keeps older credits alive for another year. The expiry date is shown beside each balance on your account page, and expiry is recorded as an entry in the ledger like every other change — your balance never moves without a line explaining it.

Refunds

  • Unspent credits are refundable within 14 days of the purchase that added them. Write to hello@stupidon.com from the address on the account.
  • Spent credits are not refundable. They bought model time that has been used and paid for. If a pack is half spent, the unspent half is what comes back.
  • A yearly licence is refundable within 14 days of purchase. Refunding it ends the licence on every machine at their next check-in.
  • If something we changed or broke cost you credits, tell us and we will put them back. That is not a policy you have to argue for.

Prices, currency and tax

Every price is in US dollars. Taxes are added where they apply, and are shown before you pay. Prices can change; a change never affects credits you already hold, which keep the rate they were bought at.

The yearly licence does not renew itself. It runs for twelve months and stops; there is no subscription to cancel and nothing is charged again unless you buy again. If that changes, it will be said at the point of sale before you pay, not here afterwards.

Your work, and what we can see

Your files stay on your own machine. Under a BYOK licence nothing you write passes through us at all. Under credit packs the text of a request passes through our gateway on its way to the model provider so that it can be metered — and we do not log it: what is stored is the request id, the model, the token counts and the cost. We do not train on your work and we do not sell it.

Fair use

Credits are for your own research. Reselling access, sharing one account across a group, or running automated traffic through it is not that, and an account doing it can be stopped — with any unspent credits refunded. There is a per-minute request limit on every account, which ordinary use never reaches.

The software

Stupidon is licensed to you, not sold. You may install it and use it for your own work. You may not copy it for other people, resell or redistribute it, or decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, or work around its licence and credit checks, except where the law where you live allows that whatever these terms say.

The app's code, its prompts and its design belong to Kaalmaya. Your papers, notes, code and results belong to you, and nothing here gives us any right to them. Components made by others, such as the open-source libraries the app is built on, stay under their own licences.

This is a small company

Stupidon is made by Kaalmaya. Support is email, from a person. If the service is discontinued, unspent credits will be refunded. Questions about any of the above go to hello@stupidon.com.
